Fun things to do in Zakopane

Zakopane and its surrounding area is a natural outdoor playground for children. A huge variety of options abound including adrenalin sports, play parks and horse and carriage rides. There is sure to be something for even the smallest of visitors. Family Highlights include:

  • Gubałówka Funicular: and from the top you can take a dry sledge down a 700m run. Horse and carriage rides also operate from here and delight younger visitors, and finish at the chair lift which can be taken back down. The views will reward the adults! Older children may prefer to skip the horse and carriage ride and instead try their head for heights and balance on the Rope Adventure Park offering a selection of challenges including rope bridges, cargo nets, descents and zip lines.
  • Thermal Pool: there is an outdoor thermal pool with a temperature of a blissful 28°C close to the Mercury Hotel.
  • Bus Trips: During the summer months daily bus trips are organised with a range of destinations and themes from the centre of Zakopane.
  • Rafting in the Dunajec River Gorge: including options for those both over and under 10 years old.
  • Tatralandia: a water paradise involving both relaxation and adrenaline
  • Oravski Castle and impressive Demianovska cave: both over the border in to Slovakia but allow children a chance to explore history whilst getting lost in their imagination of times gone past.
  • Kasprowy Wierch Cable Car: youngest are always drawn to this fun and invigorating way to get in to the mountains.
  • Ski Jump Wielka Krokiew: for competent skiers they can head to the biggest ski jump in Poland where the ski jumping World Cup takes place annually.
